Finally The Cape

The inspiration for this cape was the cape of Red Riding Hood. I wanted one for a very long time! I've finished this project a while ago but didn't find the time to make a picture of it. I'm not a person who likes to be in pictures so I kept delaying the picture moment of this Cape. But a few days ago I got my knew best sewing-buddy 'Claudette.

This cape is one of my most frequent worn self-made garments! I'm totally in love with it. But have no illusions! It's also the most unpractical garment, try carrying a shoulderbag!

This cape is based on the burda pattern # 132 (08/2012) For this cape I used a cheap wool velvet (80% wool, 20% polyester) I've found on www.stoffen.net

The buttons I bought at Veritas. They where very expensive! 3,25 euro à piece!

My machine embroidery stitching went very well (to bad I couldn't take a clear picture of it) I'm quite proud of it!
Above you can see the detail of the armholes. I didn't make the paspel armholes as in the orignal design, but instead I opted for armholes in the side seams. I did this because of practical considerations. Armholes in front of the cape would make it even worse to carry a purse!
I can proudly say that the inside of my cape is as beautiful as the outside! I love this lining fabric! You can buy it in different colours (again on stoffen.net, search for Futter Jacquard Paisley)

This cape wasn't difficult to make and lots of fun! I recommend this pattern!

Ps: beneath the cape Claudette is wearing my self-made skirt based on the burda pattern #111a (08/2012)

A summer project from long ago

Some time ago I made this lovely shirt and didn't post about it (a shame!). But finally I managed to take some pictures so I can share this fabulous shirt with all of you. I fell in love with the print and bought it without knowing what to make out of it. Finally I decided to make the summer shirt out of Knipmode 07/2012. (I bought the fabric on www.stoffen.net)

I redesigned the collar to make it a Claudine collar (or Peter-Pan collar) instead of a pointy one.
I loved the cuffs of this design a lot!

This shirt was very easy and very fun to make! I'm still totally in love with the design of the fabric.
This project was my first shirt I've made, also my first buttonholes (I made this two months ago).
The original design was made of one kind of fabric. But I wanted a shirt with some white details. It gives this shirt that little something extra!

When I was wearing this shirt to work I inspired one of my colleagues to take up sewing! That was the best compliment I could get!

Christmas present #1

My boyfriend wanted a hand knitted scarf as Christmas present. Mmm, that WAS a problem. I can't knit. But for the love of my life I wanted to give it a try. I'm making him a grey, very bulky scarf. After a lot of attempts (I started 4 times over) i'm quite pleased with the result. Beneath you can see a picture of the work in progress. This is my first project for which I designed the pattern. For this pattern I got my inspiration from the Spring/summer 2013 collection of Louis Vuitton. I just love those squares!

As you can see, the edges are a bit curly. I'm thinking to crochet an edge around the scarf so it won't curl any more. What do you think? Would it help? Or do you know another solution?

Wallet/Clutch

In July I found a great tutorial on how to make a super cute clutch (I use it as wallet) on How about Orange (watch my post about this tutorial for more information To put away all that cash!)

In my town there is a fabrics store that is not quite in business any more but still sells some old fashioned top quality fabrics. The owner of the shop gave me a sample book with all kinds of fabrics. Out of these fabrics I made myself, my mother and my sister an adorable clutch based on the tutorial on How About Orange.

Beneath you can find some pictures of the result.

The corners are not that beautiful, but that's because I've made the clutch out of fabric to cover seats. This fabric is quite thick. The ribbon's on the clutch are vintage. These used to be decorations on old curtains of my grandmother.

This clutch is an ideal beginners project! This way you learn to attach zippers.

The clutch is very practical, everything fits in to it (all your credit-cards for example :)) U use a very small purse for change. I even put my keys and cellphone into it!

Have fun making these! I tell you, once you start you'll end up making these for every women in your family!

Jackie Style!

I've finished my second Jackie dress, this time I've made it out of wool instead of linnen. I love it!

I've used the medium sized bodice and the large skirt. That explains the darts in the skirt.

Sales, you've just got to love them!

One one of my plenty shoppingtrips to the Veritas I've found three wonderful patterns on sale! (only 2 euro à piece!) My to do list is once again expanding!

To cute to be true!

This was a project i've made for my boyfriends godchild's first birtday. It took for ever to complete this project, but I'm in love with the result.

This pattern is for free on www.garnstudio.com.

This is the one I've made, I've used a differnt kind of yarn so the result is a bit different. It took me ages to get the eyes right, so in the end I gave up and mom came to the rescue!

Eerste project
